So here I sit -
Splitting the hairs with time.
So where's the one I dreamed of,
By my side?
I know I don't know what I want,
but I know I need someone.
[Low voice] Oooh, uh-ooh-ooh, uh-ooh-ooh
Meanwhile;
It's just me an my guitar.
All I need tonight is a woman
To make it all seem alright.
I just need someone
To share the night.
[Low voice - muted] Oooh, uh-ooh-ooh, uh-ooh-ooh
[Low voice - muted] Oooh, uh-ooh-ooh, uh-ooh-ooh
We keep our love
Under the lock and key.
Afraid to ask or answer
To our needs.
We stick to all our private fantasies,
And eliminate the true love, that breathes.
It was so much less than a revelation
When I was looking for so much more.
I was beside my self to find out;
Tonight I'm alone.
[Instumental]
It was so much less than a revelation
When I was looking for so much more.
I was beside my self to find out;
Tonight I'm alone.
All I need tonight is a woman
To make it all turn out right.
I just need someone
To share the night.
All I need tonight is a woman...
[Low voice] Ooh ooh ooh
To have,
To hold,
To remember...

Written in my younger years, this song simply bemoans the spurned longings of a young man. It is a song that is almost embarrassing because it takes off some of our filters when talking about dating and relationships.
It sometimes seems that love, sex, and relationships are often unnecessarily complicated. It sometimes seems like a game, at times a cruel game.
To young people, these realizations are sometimes 'learned the hard way' as I am sure I learned almost everything I know.
